Watford Film House – back again tomorrow by popular demand!
As we promised earlier this year, Watford Filmhouse is showing another night of archive films in November for those who couldn’t make it to the Oxhey Fayre (and also for those who couldn’t get inside our packed marquee to see the show)
Yes, the past may be a foreign country – but you don’t need a passport to get there, just get yourself down to Bushey and Oxhey Methodist Church on Friday 15th November.
It seems our friends and neighbours in Oxhey can’t get enough local archive film shows and we are more than pleased to oblige. So, hold onto your hats as we whisk you back to a bygone Oxhey with another look at footage of the Oxhey Fayre and the Jubilee Beacon – don’t forget to keep an eye out for your friends and family!
Plus there will be another chance to see, ‘Roll Out The Barrel, the British pub on film from 1944 – 1982’, plus a particularly nostalgic look, in this day of mobile phones, at some switchboard girls hard at work in, ‘Love Letters and Live Wires’ from the GPO unit (1936). And of course, we have been working with our partners, The University of Hertfordshire to source some ‘new’ old material and we hope to have a few new surprises for you in this, our fourth show.
This is a rare opportunity to see some really wonderful footage of people and scenes of bygone Oxhey and one that we think will interest you whatever your age.
