Watford Heath, bus cuts, and more…

WATFORD HEATH IMPROVEMENTS

Tomorrow (Monday 6th October) at 7pm there will be a drop-in consultation session on the council’s enhancement plans for Watford Heath at Oxhey Bowls Club. All local residents are welcome to come along and have their say. Watford Heath is a conservation area and a much-loved local landmark. This is not the kind of makeover as carried out at Oxhey Park but more a case of minor changes to replace the ugly concrete posts, soften the impact of utility boxes and make more of a feature of the war memorial.

You are very welcome to go along. To look at the plans please visit http://www.watford.gov.uk/ccm/content/strategic-services/press-releases/2014-09/improvements-to-watford-heath.en

BUS CUTS

There are just 3 days left to have your say on plans by Conservative-run Hertfordshire County Council to cut £870,000 from their funding for buses. What this will mean is that no buses funded by the county council will run on Sundays or after 6.30 at night on any day. You can respond to their consultation here https://www.hertsdirect.org/websurveys/cgi-bin/qwebcorporate.cgi?T7GUH7 and sign our petition to stop this here http://signme.org.uk/985

OXHEY PARK

The next of the regular tidy ups, organised by the Friends of Oxhey Park, will be happening from 10.30am on Saturday 11th October. You can also vote for Oxhey Park in the Green Flag Awards here http://www.greenflagaward.org/park-summary/?ParkID=2311

WORLD WAR ONE

Many of you attended the recent World War One Memorial re-dedication on Oxhey Green, organised by OVEG. The Bushey World War One exhibition has been re-launched at St James’ church hall in Bushey. TALKING NEWSPAPER

The Watford and District Talking Newspaper has been bringing local news to visually impaired people for over 35 years. In order for the service to continue they desperately need more volunteers to add to the rota of those who record the readers on Thursday evening. It is not a technical job and the equipment used is simple and high quality. If you are interested or would like to know more please contact Marilyn Gerry on 01923 239273.
