No they are awful! I don’t have any objection to houses being built but the design is so wrong for Oxhey Village.

You might as well rip up any pretensions of a conservation area- ugly achitecturely and some of the houses for demolishing are beautiful.Totaly without merit.

I can’t believe it.. not in keeping at all. Oxhey Village has enough congestion without adding anymore. So much for it being a conservation area. Not good news at all for Oxhey village and the wildlife existing in the current location.

Please spread the word far and wide. This mustn’t happen. Horrible. We can’t move for cars as it is and it’s supposed to be a conservation area!

This has a devastating personal impact and it is terrible for the whole of our Oxhey Village. Community. Green space like this being lost at the heart of the village is criminal. More traffic and congestion in the heart of the village, if developments like this happen, wonderful places like Oxhey Village will lose their identity and character. Putting a three storey brick wall at the end of someone’s garden, blocking all light and view is horrendous.

If this goes ahead it will be a disgrace. This is supposed to be a conservation area. Aside from the fact that these houses will look hideously out of place in what is an area of Watford that still maintains a lovely traditional villagey feel, which is rare in itself, in 20 years time, these houses are going to look awful wherever they’re built. Please don’t destroy our lovely area!!

Would these be on the help to buy scheme?
And also when is this looking at being built?

Wow! That will look nice…. not fitting in with any of the other houses and looking like it landed from another world.

some people are not reading this properly, no houses are being demolished.

I am appalled at this idea. I can think of no positive impact that this will have. Oxhey Village is a Conservation Area – this can only have a detrimental effect on the wildlife and quality of life for those living in the vicinity. The architecture in no way matches any of the surrounding buildings, and would look so out of place.Traffic congestion will also get worse. People need to know that this can not happen.

This is an utterly appalling plan. Has anyone actually considered the residents who live in the immediate vicinity of this monstrosity and whose view from their window will become a 3 storey brick wall or the fact that it is supposed to be a conservation area?? This development will have a detrimental effect on the village in terms of congestion (quite frankly we don’t need any more!), aesthetics, wildlife and the environment. I am completely opposed to this development and will fully support any campaign to stop it.

Has anyone started a petition. Objections could be relating to biodiversity and not in keeping with the conservation area.

I think this is an opening gambit by the developer, they can easily change the architectural design to fit in with the surroundings.
My main disagreement is the negative effect, yet another development will have on the village, robbing us of green spaces. These gardens are an oasis for birds and wildlife. The last thing we need is more traffic congestion and pollution in the area. Our conservation area must hold up against this development.

This application is completely inappropriate in size and design, completely out of keeping with the area. It is very disappointing that the owner/s of the land who appear to be Oxhey Village residents have sold their land, particularly to an unscrupulous developer.
As Cassa says, do go and make your objections on the Watford Council link. I have done so. Be sure to press the ‘Make a Comment’ button at the top right hand side before writing them and filling in all the other buttons otherwise you may lose your comments.

I notice that the few people supporting this development on WBC have met with the developer and had the opportunity to discuss the plans. To my knowledge there has not been an opportunity for anyone to meet with the developer.

It would appear that the developer is only meeting with those in support and not those who it would impact the most on.

I have already objected but as an after thought has anyone thought how a fire engine might access the development, its bad enough getting anything that large down Avenue Terrace.

We have included this in our objection as it is very difficult to see how a fire engine could turn with cars on both sides of the road esp coming from Field road. If we lose more parking spaces because of this, that will make congestion even worse
