The major redevelopment proposals for residential and retail units at the former Massey’s waste site at 8–12 Chalk Hill were submitted to the council earlier this year. Following the consultation events held before the application, various changes were made to the scheme. The site has been designated in the district plan for residential development. With the government insisting on an increase in new residential development, with an emphasis on previously developed land close to railway stations, this is a key site. It is likely to be on the agenda for the next development management committee meeting on 5 September. The plans can be viewed online here (application reference number 18/00163/FULM).
