Due to the advice given by the Government with regards to the COVID-19 Pandemic, OVEG took the decision to postpone the annual Social/AGM until it is safe to be held. This means that voting could not take place regarding Committee roles and the Committee therefore agreed that roles will continue to be held by the present incumbents, except where positions have been vacated and need to be filled by new volunteers. These appointments are all on a temporary basis until they can be voted for by the members.
As Ian Davis intended to step down as Chair at the AGM, the role as been taken up on an acting basis by Paul Hudson. Paul has been a member of the Committee for the past four years serving as Fayre Coordinator, running four Summer Fayres during that time. Ben Atkins has re-joined the Committee as Fayre Coordinator to allow Paul to take over the Chair.
Ian will continue to work closely with the Committee as the lead for the Oxhey Community Support Initiative, we would like to thank for him for hard work both as Chair and member of the Committee.
Jan Sherlock has been co-opted onto the Committee to assist Ian in the running of the Oxhey Community Support Initiative.
Laura Godfrey has stepped down as Newsletter Editor and has been replaced by Rae Hobden. John Drummond has joined the Committee also.
We also took the decision to postpone the Big Breakfast for the safety of our members and will look to hold this event in the Autumn should the situation allow.
Sadly, we have now taken the difficult decision to cancel the Summer Fayre this year. The Picnic is unlikely to be held on the date originally advertised but we are still hopeful we can put on a similar event late in the summer should the situation allow this to be done safely.
Due to potential impact on the printers and a lack of a distribution network we will not be producing a physical newsletter until restrictions are lifted though we are looking to offer some online content in the near future as a temporary replacement.
All of us from the Committee hope you and your families remain safe and well during these difficult times.
