Bushey Arches Car Park Consultation

Watford Council is seeking views on initial proposals to alter the existing parking restrictions in Bushey Arches Car Park. The proposals consist of the redesignation of marked parking bays within the car park into short stay bays and permit holder parking bays.

This suggestion was developed in response to a petition we received with 190 signatures on it. This was instigated by LJ’s Café and a number of businesses in the area. It is alleged that the parking bays are mainly used by people parking over a longer duration, leaving visitors and shoppers with very little access. In response to this our mayor, Dorothy Thornhill, asked officers to carry out a consultation.

It is proposed to introduce short stay parking bays with hours of operation Mondays to Saturdays 8am to 6:30pm, Maximum stay of 2hrs no return within 4hrs. A number of the parking bays will also be designated as permit holder bays with hours of operation Mondays to Saturdays 8am to 6:30pm. The consultation drawing can be downloaded below. This shows the proposed short stay bays in yellow and permit holders only bays in purple, please note that only residents and businesses within the area bounded by the red line shown on the plan will be eligible to purchase permits for use in the permit holder bays.

Responses to the consultation will be used to help decide if there is support for making changes at this car park and, if there is, how the proposals can be developed further. We want as many people as possible to take part so that everyone’s views can be taken into account.
